Please join us for an informative evening on the topic of reading. Whether you are just curious, an educator seeking to better understand the challenges facing your students, or have family or friends impacted by dyslexia, this is your opportunity to learn from an expert.  John Alexander is a national leader in the area of dyslexia and literacy.

Learning to read can be a complicated process, but thanks to over 20 years of scientific research, there is little debate about what skills a child needs to be a fluent reader and what effectively works for learning to read.

Agenda:
6:30p-7:00p Check-in
7:00p-9:00p Presentation

John Alexander is the Executive Director at Groves Academy, an independent school for students diagnosed with dyslexia or related language-based learning differences and/or ADHD located in St. Louis Park, Minnesota.  John holds a Master's degree in Reading and Language Disabilities from Harvard University. He has taught graduate-level classes in the structure of language and in diagnostic-prescriptive teaching and has given a number of talks at national, state, and local conferences. John recently served on the Minnesota Board of Teaching's State Reading Task Force and was instrumental in the creation of new reading rules to better prepare teachers to teach literacy skills to struggling and emerging readers.
