2019 Fall Advocacy Workshop

 

On Friday, October 25th Decoding Dyslexia Minnesota is hosting a full-day workshop of learning and advocacy to help you serve your student in the 2019-2020 school year. This workshop is for parents, educators, and professionals.

peakers include:

  • Amy Goetz, Special Education Attorney will discuss Special Education Law and MN Law and the rights of students and families in education.
  • Dr. Amy Schulting, Dyslexia Specialist, & Vicki Weinberg, Special Education Division, MDE will provide information on MDE’s dyslexia efforts, an overview of MDE guidance on dyslexia screening and the components of systematic, explicit instruction, and suggestions of how parents can support their children’s progress.
  • Ask the Experts Panel Q&A will be a chance for attendees to get answers to questions from a variety of different perspectives. Michele Kvikstad, parent and special education coordinator, Sarah Carlson-Wallrath, The Reading Center, and representatives from the IDA and DDMN.
