2016 Dyslexia Day at the Capitol

Our 2nd Annual "Dyslexia Day at the Capitol" is here.  Each year families, friends, and professionals from around the state gather to raise awareness about dyslexia and support legislative change for the students with dyslexia.  Please RSVP below.

Here is the day's agenda.

Here is the Legislative summary to give to your Senator and House of Representative.

Education Committee Hearing (8:30 - 10:30 a.m., Minnesota Senate Building, room 2412 **note that this is a room change**)

There will be an Education Committee Hearing in the Senate. Please arrive 15 minutes early. Let’s show support with our presence at the Senate Education Committee meeting. The Legislators want to see children too!

Rally Day (12 - 2 p.m., Minnesota Senate Building, room 2308)

The Rally is a time for us to share more of our stories with Senators and Representatives who will be able to come and hear our concerns. Please consider bringing a small poster with a slogan to show your support (examples include #SayDyslexia, Dyslexia affects #1in5, Dyslexia-The elephant in every classroom, or Dyslexia is Invisible, but I am NOT) - be creative!

Meet with your legislators

On this day, we also encourage you to set up a meeting with your Senator and your Representative.  They have told us they want to hear from their constituents who are affected by dyslexia. (Note that from 11-12 the Senators have a meeting and may not be able to meet during this time.) For more information about sharing your story, see our tips -- Unlock Your Personal Dyslexia Story.

Meet with Senator Wiger - Chair of the Education Committee (10:40 - 10:55 am, Minnesota Senate Building, room 3219)

This is particularly for his constituents, but is open for everyone who is available.
